Today, I was able to gather some helpful information regarding seven trends you are sure to see at any weddings you attend this year!

First one is digital cameras for each guest. This can either be a physical digital camera, or through an app! Yes, you heard that right, an APP! Well honestly, what isn’t there an app for these days? Digital camera’s are pretty self explanatory, you have a camera, you take a picture right? Well, with these new digital camera apps, you present each guest with a barcode, typically on their dining table next to their name card, or wherever you like really. Your guest would scan the barcode and be transported to a screen page designed by you and your fiancé. Each guest for example, would have a limit of ten pictures they can take throughout the day, which will then be uploaded and in your possession. So you and your partner can sit after the wedding, in newlywed bliss looking through all of your precious memories captured on such a special day of your life! It doesn’t get more romantic than that!

Having your bridesmaids as your ‘something blue’. This will just elevate how special the closest people in your life are by giving their wedding party role an upgrade! This is also keeping in tune with the ‘tonal’ colour scheme for upcoming weddings, specifically a sky/pastel blue. Your bridesmaids also don’t have to match!! There is no rule in the ‘getting married soon book’ to say you always have to have matching bridesmaids dresses! Un-matching maids are becoming more and more popular, they can be all in the same colour, or same colour tone just different shades. As women, we know were not all the same shape, size, height etc, so I find it absolutely beautiful when bridesmaids choose their own dresses (with some input from the bride of course), allowing them to know they will be at their most comfortable all day!

Restaurant receptions! Restaurants are no longer being considered just for the likes of a rehearsal dinner or outside catering. Wedding’s are becoming a lot more intimate over the years, as some bride’s might say “less guests equals less stress”. I love the idea of attending a beautiful ceremony, hearing the most precious vows and heading to an incredible restaurant for the reception! Have fun decking the place out, let your personality shine through the decor.

Digital guest books! Yes, I know what you’re thinking.. are we trying to make everything digital these days? So just hear me out. I attended a wedding fair not so long ago, and there was this gorgeous little company offering this service. They had this 1970’s inspired rotary telephone where you could record a short special message, like a voicemail, to the newlywed’s so they can listen after the big day is over! I was in absolute awe of this idea, I had never seen anything like it, and feel it would be something so unique to add to your wedding, especially if you’re going down the ‘vintage’ route.

This is a main one for me; Personalisation! Never forget, this is the most magical day of you and your partners life, it is the one day you can get away with making it all about you! This could include having bespoke cocktails made, or a twist on a classic/your favourite, but changing the name to relate back to you. It could also be naming your tables after the places you have travelled together, your favourite foods or things you love doing together. The same goes for centre pieces, name cards, wedding favours etc. Keep your wedding as personal as you can, you’ll look back in 10, 20 or even 30 years time, pop open a bottle of wine and reminisce about just how special your day really was.

The next I would say, is a little bit common, but honestly in my opinion, will NEVER go out of fashion; Champagne Towers! Yes I know, you’ve probably seen this all over your Instagram or Pinterest feed, so surely there must be a reason for that! It is so timeless and adds a touch of glam to your big day! Though, try not to knock it over!

Okay, so I have saved the best to last; OTT Guest Dress Codes! Trust me, everyone loves your wedding day just as much as you do, getting all prepped, ready and glammed for the day. So why not take that to the next level! Elevate that ‘black-tie’ theme by encouraging your guests to add their own creative flair to their look, it doesn’t always have to be ball-gowns and penguin tuxedo’s.

For me, I love the lead up to the wedding just as much as the big day; online shopping (not that I don’t do enough of that already), buying new accessories to match, doing my tan and having a sip of bubbly as I get ready, so if I am told to go all out with my look, you couldn’t get me more excited! Trust me, your guests would love it!
